As an economist and professor at SMU, it is natural that my highest priority is the economic wellbeing of all Texans. This begins with the abolition of eternal property taxes, a tyranny on all households.
We need deep reform of the criminal bail system. Currently, activist judges use their discretion to release alleged murder suspects back into our neighborhoods with little or no bail, while minor offenders remain jailed simply because they are poor.
I support the deployment of the Texas National Guard and the expansion of the role and military capability of the Texas State Guard to defend our international border.
